Pounder from Appalachian, canned 11/09/23. Crispy, mostly clear, pale honey gold pour with a lingering, fluffy head. Soft water, chemmy, sharp malt nose. Bite-y, acidic, long estery, strong & sweet, buttery malt, light herbal bitterness, sweet grass, sweet corn backend. Desperate for more of a bitter bite. Frothy, solid carb, just a bit thick. Very meh.

Panda at home, thanks to SHIG, 07/04/24. Clear golden with a fast escaping white head. Nose is corn husk, grains, cereals, dusty fruits, vague glue like marzipan nip. Taste comprises sweet edge malts, cereals, light nip of booze, stewed fruits, biscuit crumb, light honey trace. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Pretty solid Licker ... could do with more boost factor though.

16oz can, courtesy of Secret Santa, has no appearance as I'm drinking it from the can. The aroma offers up sweet apple and pear like fruitiness followed closely by a mild sense of corn to corn flake like notes. The taste delivers a modest level of pear to apple like sweet fruity esters that don't grow and become too sweet. Nice. There's a modest boozy bite there too to help fight off the impending sweetness that's a pandemic with low ABV (under 10%) 'craft' beer malt liquor where the brewer is just oblivious to the style. sad. This is one of the best 'to style' malt liquors under 10% I've had. Solid offering.

Craft malt liquor is possible, and occasionally fantastic—see malt liquors from Hutton & Smith or Edmund’s Oast as examples—but holy Christ is this Hi-Wire pint undrinkably sweet. Leans more towards a Belgian beer with unwieldy amounts of candi sugar tossed in the boil. Sweet corn, vanilla, and an unbearable saccharine back end. Truly awful.
