Bottle. Nose is sweet malt, berry, citrus hops, caramel, toast. Taste is toast, caramel, brown sugar, treacle, leading to a sticky dark fruit, salt, pine, hints of soy, wood, boozy Christmas cake, faint hint of vanilla with a layer of ash. The hops really lift the beer. This is a very rich beer to be drinking on a warm spring evening, but it’s got depth and lots of character, much better than I was expecting.

So mental. It's velvet. It's chocolate. It's blackcurrants. Drinks like crazy. Super lacing. Super clean. Utterly astounding. @home.

Bottle thanks to Fergus. It pours darkest brown with a small beige head. The nose is bitter - sweet, treacle, tangy plum, fruit cake, malt loaf, hop sack, Dandelion & Burdock and earthy roast. The taste is bitter, rich roast, bitter - sweet, charred wood, treacle, oily, warming alcohol, chewy, cherry cola, jammy berry, spice and earth with a dry, warming finish. Full body and fine carbonation. A bit heavy duty perhaps, but enjoyable enough.

Cask @ Crown & Kettle, Manchester. Black with a bubbly head. Extremely strong tasting, with a few dark malts in its background. There’s a small fire in the mouth from it.
