Sampled bottled @ ACBF 2015. Black little mocha. Nose is thick mocha, umami, quite heavy on the roast & umami sweetness. Taste is soy sauce, mocha, interestingly thick herbal character, lots of mocha & lightly boozy. Thick body. Quite interesting but nowhere near as good as the BA versions. This is a superb base beer evidently but doesn’t stand out that much on its own. (Thanks for sharing people!!!)

Black color with a quickly diminishing tan head. Aroma has notes of toasted malts, sweet hints, burnt bread with vanilla notes. Flavor is toasty and roasty, alcohol very good integrated with sweet notes, vanilla and burnt sugar notes. Light creamy nouthfeel with slightly sweet and roasty notes on palate.

Clear dark brown beer, irregular creamy beige head, stable, bit adhesive, leaving some nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: lots of dried fruits, some banana, mocha, caramel, sweet, dark chocolate. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: pretty roasted, coffee, caramel, sweet, bit sugary, more sugar still. Aftertaste: bit hoppy, roasted, dark chocolate, sugary, alcohol, cocoa powder.

Pitch black. 1 finger espresso colored, very dense head. Aroma is fudge, chocolate and caramel candies with charred oak. taste is intensely smokey with vanilla and more fudge. You can taste every bit of the whiskey and booze in this. Not well integrated but very interesting

Tap at Irreale, non-barrelaged version . Licorice and five-spice nose. Black, brown lacing head. Creme Catalan, fruit jam, dry sherry, chocolate liquor, licorice, umami- really extreme flavors it is amazing how much is going on here. Medium full dry body. Certainly breaks the mold, bravo!
