Super deep, dark brown coloured body with a thin, relatively fast-dying tan and light brown head that start out at only a centimetre tall, but fades quickly. Aroma of quite strong earthy, nutty, caramelised, bitter, alcohol, lactose and deep grainy and molasses notes with a lot of characteristics, but most of them deep, dark and perhaps a bit too strong, but that seems about right for the alcohol content here. Medium to Full-bodied; Super strong rich roasted malt notes dominate up front with a lot of lactose, caramelised sugars, but the anise, licorice, molasses, treacle and pure nutty finish make this pungent throughout. Aftertaste is strong, deep alcohol flavours show through everything with a ton of warmth, a lot of lactose, earth and bunches of both vanilla and soy sauce at the very end that make for a relatively nice finish, but slightly funky and very complex. Overall, a very strong and lightly sweet beer that hits the right flavours you'd expect for an imperial stout, but it does surprise that this still so strong and pungent throughout without any seemingly mellowing out of the flavours since purchase! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 09-March-2018 for US$7,29 sampled just over two years later at home in Washington on 12-March-2020.

Black w med brown head. Smoked molasses aroma, rich sticky on the palate, some roasted red chile, maybe chocolate, and just a bit of alcohol, which is mostly covered up.

Opaque colour, good brownish head. Roasted aroma has coffee, cacao and dark chocolate. Full-bodied. Roasted flavour has lots of espresso, cacao, ash. Not really chillies here. Smooth, hides ABV well. Quite dry, almost too dry.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy brown head that left very good lacing. The aroma was roasty with anise, floral hops and coffee. The flavor was roasty and smokey with cocoa, anise, coffee and floral hops. Long finish. Moderately full bodied.

1 pint can, canned 09/22/17. Pitch black body, with a big, creamy, lacing, coffee-colored head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, chili, cocoa powder, tobacco, some liquorice. Tastes similar. Full, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation. Finishes warm, roasty, moderate sweet, quite dry, wooden, with coffee, dark chocolate, chili, cocoa, some liquorice. Very nice. Interesting mix of roasty and sweet, with a well hidden alcohol. The chili is noticeable, while not too overpowering, providing a fitting spicy note. Enjoyed the Prairie version more, while this is also an enjoyable sipper. Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 15
