Old rating - A 330ml bottle from Dunnel's in Jersey. Pours black with a creme foamy head. Aromas & tastes of spice, malts, hops & some alcohol from the barrel. Enjoyable tasty rye beer.

Black pour, beige head. Nose is wood, booze, earthy notes, a spicy touch. Taste somewhat bitter, kinda sweet notes of booze, earth, wood. Long boozy and sharp bitter finish, medium body, softcarbonation. I didn’t quite catch the port barrel, nor the rye and the bourbon BA is not sour usual sweet, vanilla like stuff either. Not bad, but not really what it promises to be.

Bottle delivered from the brewery and drunk at home. Very dark brown, bordering on indigo. Lots of pine in the aroma, combining with the spicy sourness of the rye. There are also notes of chocolate, ammonia, toast and mint. There's an almost acrid bitterness to the initial taste, bit it mellows to a pleasant bittersweetness. Long, gritty finish. Medium carbonation. I love a nice black IPA but the rye makes it a bit much.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up at Craft n Draft, Shoreditch. Pours black-brown with a frothy, beige head. Rich stuff, loads of ashy roast, bitter dark chocolate, torched pine, earth, orange rind. Medium to full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine, massaging carbonation. Warming finish, with a little resinous charred pine, more scorched earth, strong drying ashy roast, more bittersweet dark chocolate. A toothy, slightly rough-round-the-edges CDA. Good fun overall.

Keg at the Brewery tap, Bath, 02/02/19. Mid black with a decent tan head. Nose ia mellow roast, charr, port barrelling in evidence, light pine needle, dusty fruits, cocoa sprinkle. Taste comprises cocoa powder, toffee, charr, roast malt bite, light spice trail, dusty hops, barrel tones. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with balanced hop bitterness. Solid stuff ... God depth to this one.

Solid and powerful bipa. One more please.
Black pour with a fine tan head. Good intensity in the aroma. Oak, hoppy, dark malt and fruity. Good body and fine carbonation level. Pleasant to drink. Balanced sweetness and bitterness. Fine lasting tail. Good complexity in the flavor. Dark malt, grapefruit hoppy, tropical, roast, oak and pine.
