Retro review from Spring 2012 Wetherspoons Beer festival; I’m scared of Otters seen them at the Sea Life Centre vicious little bastards. The animal feeders fed them wearing chainmail.

Cask at the King and Castle (JDW), Windsor - 31/03/12. Golden amber with a good white head. Caramel malt, grain and nuts on the nose. Taste is bitter with caramel, grain and biscuit. Medium bodied not overly inspiring but drinkable.

The ale has an excellent bitterness, coupled with a great fruity kick to its flavour..

Crosse Keys Spoons. Light haze on this gold beer. Small bubbly white head. Light dry palate. Mild banana bubblegum ester well buried under by sweetish malt. Okay citrus balances things. Trace of apple here but nowt serious like,. Sweet orange before the dry finish. Bitter linger. Alright.

[Cask at the Hope Tap, Reading] Light amber with a thick white head and a slight fizz. A smooth, traditional tasting bitter with some lemon, caramel and biscuit and a light bitterness in the finish. Competent, decent beer, if unexciting. c5

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours clear, golden-brown with a fine, foamy white head. Light toasted malt nose with faint caramel hints. Light to medium sweet flavor, some toffee and bitter toasted bread, some leaves and light dirt. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Toasty malts to finish, some leafy bitterness and a bit more light toffee. Also some mild, ripe fruits. OK.

Cask handpull at Penderals Oak, Holborn. I quite like Otter overall but this was a bit of a dullish beer in not great condition. English brown bitter flavours, just a bit uninspired and uninspiring.
