Staropolski Tradycyjny Trójniak is the first Polish mead to boast the European label Traditional Specialty Guaranteed. It is a superior-quality liquor with a wonderful taste and aroma.
The “APIS” Beekeepers’ Cooperative in Lublin is the only Polish producer to have successfully passed the verification of compliance with Trójniak mead (a Traditional Specialty Guaranteed product) production specification, carried out by the Agricultural and Food Quality Inspection (IJHARS).
This type of mead is produced from honey mash created by mixing 1 part honey with 2 parts water. It needs to mature for about 2 years. It contains 14% alcohol.

Flat, clear dark golden color. Aroma is slightly sweet and dry mineraly, dusty honey, fruit stones, bark, minerals, alcohol, hay, cellar, hints of dried dark fruits. Taste is slightly sweet sour-ish fruity, dusty honey, fruit stones, grass, alcohol, bark, cellar, hay, heather, hints of dried dark fruits. Medium bitterness, slightly sweet sour-ish fruity mouthfeel. Fair enough.

75cl bottle bought at the airport in Krakow, Poland. Pours a beautiful red brown, clear, no foam. Aroma is of caramel, nuts, barrel. Body dense and fairly sticky, with no carbonation. Taste is definitely sweet, with a nice and long aromatic final.

Medovinárna. Coppery color. Pungent aroma, caramelly, herbs, homeyish, lovely. Lovely taste, highly drinkable, lean, wild herb and caramel in a pleasant honeyish body as well, light alcohol in the finish. Herbal and fermentation touches show up later. Tasty, very tasty!

Pours dark ocergold. Scent is full, mild herbal notes. Taste is fairly full, sweet, full on honey. Very balanced, but perhaps a bit simple.

Bottle. Dark amber color, flat. Aroma is deep honey, a tiny bit of umeshu, some green stuff even, wood. Taste is dark fruits, forest, wood, medium sweet, good character there. Oily mouthfeel, flat. Good stuff, it's got a lot of character and apparently this is without any kind of spicing or fruits, untypical for Apis.

Smaksprøve hos Ninkasira nov-18: dyp gylden. Nydelig honningaroma og -smak med tørkede frukter i bakgrunnen. Saftig, heftig og portvinsvinøs. Intens sødme uten å bli klissete, alkoholen ligger i bakgrunnen. Alt dette fordi den er lagret lenge, iflg den begeistrede innehaveren.
