Bottle shared in Hazlemere - cheers team. Pours clear, reddish brown with a modest, foamy tan head. Big red wine aroma, old berries, a little earth. Medium sweet flavour with nips of malty sugars, loads of red wine character, dried dark fruits, berries, a bit of booze, pleasant oaky dryness. Medium bodied with delicate carbonation. Drying finish - much like that of a red wine - and a bit of warmth, low bitterness, a little grape skin, cherry, leathery dark fruits. Very little to suggest this is a beer. If I tried this blind, I would just think it's a nice red wine. Overall, delicious stuff.

Bottle at the 'Mere, Happy New Years (Tipples had) Tastang, thanks to Kenny 21/01/22. Light black with a modest tan covering. Nose is dried red berry fruits, dark malts, spice, grape must, spice, mellow barrel. Taste comprises dark malts, jammy red berries, cocoa powder, figs, prunes, raspberries, spice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost. Decent jammy berry infused impy but veers very much towards a red wine. Fun ... but not worth the bang for the buck for sure!

22st January 2022
Tasting at Chez Bois. Thanks to the team. Ox blood hazy beer. No real head. Palate is light and semi dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Woody barrel immediately obvious. Woody red wine, quite rich and slightly bitterish. The dark malts are quite subservient to the rich red wine barrel. Quite a rich oakiness on the semi dry finish which is also warming. Interesting take but it's not smashing it out of the park for me.

24th April 2021. Bottle thanks to Kenny. It pours oily deep reddish - black with a small, bubbly off-white head. The aroma is bright, juicy, tart, tangy, zingy, vinous, jammy berry, blackberry, black grapes, bramble, blackcurrant, rich roasted malt, liquorice, umami, cacao nibs and earth. The taste is slick, oily, juicy, vinous, tangy, rich roasted malt, liquorice, umami, jammy berry, blackberry, blackcurrant, earth, oak, light tannin, warming alcohol sting, vinous, fruit compote, plum pie and sherbet with a drying, toasty finish. Medium - fulsome body and fine, massaging carbonation. More balanced than you would expect. Bonkers.
