On tap at the brewery. Gas station dark beer aroma. It’s ok in the mouth but not great flavour. Like a diesel exhaust thing. No belgian influence except a slight fruitiness. Not a good beer. Hmm

Keg at the brewery, 17/01/15. Black with a well appointed tan covering that retains well. Nose is dark fruits, chocolate, liqourice, tar, toffee, light spice, malty notes. Taste comprises candied fruit peel, spice, treacle toffee, earthy, dark fruit vibes, hint of yeast, chocolate, light charr. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid Belgian offering, way up the pecking order for me in this style category.

Keg at the brewery. Clear dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and airy and semi dry. Mild fine carbonation. Smooth and rich dark malts. Nice dark malt cream with touches of coffee and dark chocolate. Tangy fruits provide contrast and there is a little spice. Light airy finish, dark fruits linger on. Very nice, the easy drinking belies the abv.

Keg at the brewery taproom. Pours rich black-brown with a creamy beige head. Strong roasted malts and coffee on the nose with some Belgian yeast undertones, along with burnt toffee. Medium sweet flavor with rich burnt malts, slight charred bacon, earth, baking cocoa, burnt wood, coffee grounds. Medium to full bodied with average, creamy carbonation and chewy mouthfeel. Lightly warming finish with more burnt toffee and caramel, candi sugars, roast, some earthy bitterness and bittersweet baking cocoa. Solid overall.

Keg at the brewery. Opaque black coloured pour with a light light tan head. Aroma is salty, cured meat, smooth roast malt. Flavour is composed of savory dark salted beef, tangy dark fruit, smooth roast. Very smooth for the abv. Palate is medium bodied, highish carbonation. Ok a bit weird.

Keg at Fourpure. It pours near black with a decent tan head. The nose is rich roast, earth, umami, liquorice, mild spice and dark chocolate. The taste is bitter, rich roast, earth, spice, cocoa, mild acidity, umami, burnt toast, ash and liquorice with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Solid beer all-round.
