Deep ruby color, medium-sized beige head, some lace. Aroma is tart, earthy and berries. Light-bodied. Berryish, red currant and cranberries, hints of strawberries. Light cellary notes. Very dry, red wineous. Light as ABV indicates. Much more simple than Rodenbach.

Bottle split at Bruce’s pad, thanks to the Leightonator, 24/10/14. Dark amber with reddish hues and a decent light khaki covering that soon collapses to spotting and edgework. Nose is red berry fruits, hoppy plunder, spice, earthy, malt notes, not a lot really and not what I’d expect for the style. Taste comprises red berry licks, raspberry, lightly tartened cherries, woody. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, semi drying close. Very basic for the style, not overly offensive but way to mellow and doesn’t offer much in the way of acidity or tarte puckering, too much hop presence.

Bottle thanks to the Leighton. Clear reddish brown coloured pour with small cream head. Aroma is sharp grapefruit, plastic, solvent, flavour is composed of plastic sharp low acid, harsh burning plastic. Palate is sharp tart fruit, moderate carbonation.

Bottle shared in London - sourced from Male’s Ales, pours clear red-brown with a foamy tan head. The nose has some funky berries, dank wood, earth. Light sweet flavor with some tangy berries, light citrus, a bit of wood, orange rind, tangy lemon. Light to medium bodied with fine, spritzy carbonation. Tangy citrus finish, slight tannins, some wood, orange. Not bad.

Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pour deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is earthy, wood, funk, malt vinegar, light lactic and jammy red berry. The taste is smooth, bitter, tart, sherbet, red berry, redcurrant, light acidity, wood and earth with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not a whole lot to it. OK.

Draught, Stateside Craft.
Dark reddish- brown, vinous, woody with a whiff of alcohol and fruity notes. Tart, woody, with deep red fruits, complex, high quality rendition. Not on the Rodenbach level, but well-balanced and delicious.

On tap. Pours a reddish brown with short foamy head. Aromas and flavors of vanilla, vinegar, and woody green oak. Not much depth. Can’t get the expected deep fruits of a Flemish Red.

Dark color, mahogany with red hue, and compact beige head. The lactic aroma blends well with the fruity tartness, the result is lightly vinous. Good body strength, not too dry, it has strong woody malt flavor, light sourness, and notes of balsamic vinegar; light astringency in the end.
Soft and elegant, very good.
