Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Light haze on this brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light with fine carbonation. Mild malts and tangy, almost sour, dried fruits. Light finish. Too tangy.

Bottle split at Bruce’s Pad, acquired from the brew pub, 12/06/14. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a moderate beige swirl and edgework. Nose is dark malt notes, toffee rinse, earthy, spice, dark fruit. Taste comprises brown bread, spice, tangy dark fruits, leather, fruit loaf. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, a little thin on the palate and for the ABV. Ok.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Colin, I guess. Pours clear brown with a faint, bubbly tan head. Rubbery aroma with some ripe fruit accents. Lightly tangy flavor, thin, with light sweetness, some berries. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Slightly sweet to finish with a bit more subtle tang, leather, and berries. So so.

Surrey Whale, big thanks to Colin. It pours hazy dark brown with a small tan head. The nose is earthy, wood, cherry candy, toffee, leather, dried fruits and somewhat vinous character. The taste is earthy, wood ,caramel, dark fruits, dirt, sherbet, wood, green apple and mild acidity. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Tangy-whacker, but its not bad. Smooth and easy-going.
