A single hopped stout using the intriguing Phoenix, an unusual British hop that gives notes of molasses, Demerara sugar, bitter chocolate and warm spices. We couldn’t resist pairing it with a dark, roasty malt bill to create a bold and distinctive beer.

Had this in bottle at End of The Road Festival, Friday 29th August 2014 I picked this up at Appleyards Deli’ Shrewsbury last w/e. Pours very dark brown. This is roasty and with a little chocolate but more than that the hops are all over this. Bitter in the mouth, fresh green juicy hops, tangy with a slight twangy sour edge, really good once again from Wiper & True. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes dry with prominent burnt leaves, earth, roasted malts. Very dry. A bit unbalanced.

Bottle at RBESG ’14, day 4 not so grand tasting at Craft Clerko, 10/08/14 reckon this one is thanks to Soapy ? Light black to extremely dark mahogany brown with a moderate tan covering. Nose is caramel fudge, light cocoa, earthy roast, simple and clean smelling stout. Taste comprises bitter roastings, cocoa powder, dark toffee, earthy. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi dryness in the close. Ok stout but expected a few notches more from these guys.
