A handshake for Hells and a high-five to USA, this takes our classic lager and slams Stateside hops at it for an Atlantic-crossing home-run of juicy citrus fruit.

Hazy with big foam, bright citrus and tropical fruit aroma, pithy bitterness and amazing hop freshness: it’s got the beautiful lightness of lager countered with a big hit of hops.

We love American hops and we love Hells Lager and wanted to smash the two together. The result is probably the most delicious beer we’ve ever brewed. It’s just about the most bangable beer you’ll ever have.

Malt: Pilsner
Hops: Cascade, Centennial, Columbus, Citra, Simcoe

tap@Waterfront bar and restaurant, Streatham (9/3/2014) - golden pour with a medium creamy white head. Grassy aroma and taste, light hoppy, straw, hay, great crisp malts, thirst quenching and refreshing on such a unusually hot March day.

Bottle. Hazy pale yellow with a white head. Aroma of lime leaf, grapefruit, hay, just a little catty. Light-bodied, delicate rather than watery. Very soft in the mouth with moderate carbonation. Hay and grass with accents of citrus and tropical fruit. Dry finish with modest bitterness.

330ml bottle. Minimally hazy, golden colour with small to average, fluffy, diminishing, minimally lacing, white head. Citrusy and slightly grassy hop aroma, a touch of lemon and lime. Taste is grainy, minimally strawy, minimally bitter hoppy overtones with citrusy notes and a grassy touch, minimally tart hints of lemon and lime. Simple, hoppy, refreshing.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Hazy pale golden body with a thin white head that quickly fades. Light carbonation. Faint lacing marks. Clean aroma of vegetables and earth. Flavour is leafy hops, muted lemon and pale malt. Thin to medium body with a watery mouthfeel. Average carbonation fizz. Unfiltered beers are always better than filtered. This is a lovely, crisp Lager.

4.6% at Asahiya, Bottle. A very very pale clear gold. Nice C-hop aroma featuring citrus, a bit of funk & maybe even some catpiss. This is an easy drinking beer but the body is ridiculously light-too thin.

Bottle(@Waitrose, Cromwell Road, Kensington):Pale golden, hazy, small persistent white head, moderate hayish-fruity ("hoppy apricots") nose; almost solid bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied and soft; lingering hayish and citric finish, accompanied by hidden traces of pale malt. Great british(!!!) Lager, I wish I could get such Lagers here in western Germany…

Update: from the brewery during a tour. Really nice balanced lemon hop is to the fore. Grainy cereal and well done American c hops. Very drinkable. Keg at the brewery. Translucent yellow colour with is persistent white head. Strong grainy aroma with some grassy Nobel hop. Crisp dryness in the finish that begs for another sip. Decent. Maybe a little too much corn.
