Bourbon barrel-aged Belgian-style golden ale with pineapple and spices – 15.3% ABV
5 Golden Rings is the only golden ale in our 12 Days of Christmas series. We spiced up the natural pause in the classic song with cinnamon, allspice, and ginger that play harmoniously with notes of burnt wood and sweet and under-ripe fruit from the time spent in bourbon barrels.

RBESG pt 18. Moncada. Grand Tasting. Hazy amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and dry, decent fine carbonation. Sweet malts, sweet spices, fruity bourbon. Vague touch of pineapple. Spicy dried fruits and bourbon in the finish which is also gum numbing. Entertaining.

Bottle shared during the RBESG 2014 London Grand Tasting - Moncada Brewery. Pours clearish amber with a foamy, off-white head. Sugary, a little hammy and cheesy, quite sweet, with a bit of toffee and rich fruits. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Hot on the finish with lots of gooey sugars, meat, old fruits, malt, alcohol. Ho hum.

Bottle shared at RBESG 2014 Grand Tasting. Opaque murky orange color, small off-white head. Aroma is overpowering spicy and alcohol. Taste malts, alcohol, sweetness, vegetables lightly, herbs and spices again. Bourbon? I don’t get it. Don’t like it.

Bottle big thanks to Kenny at RBESG 2014 Grand Tasting. It pours hazy dirty gold with minimal head. Thenose is pear, apple pie, coconut, meaty aspect, vanilla, tangy fruits and tinned pineapple. The taste is sweet, apple, pear, big booze hit, spicy, light tartness, sherbet, melon, chilli, wood and tinned pineapple with a dry, hot finish. Full body and fine carbonation. A bit hot, but it sure is unique.

Bottle @ Stephen’s house. Pours a murky dark orange appearance with an off white head. Cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, caramel, bourbon aroma. A bit twangy, apple fruity, vanilla, coconut, caramel, ginger, coconut, whiskey flavor. Boozy. Kind of a mess of flavors.

Bottle thanks to Lee. Pours a cloudy orange brown with small off white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is white oak, fruit, mango, and spice. Medium mouthfeel with light spice and booze with sweet finish. Good.
