Bottle. Color: Black, thin light brown head. Aroma: Roasted malt, smoke. Taste: Dark roasted malt, quite subtle smoky. Sweetish hints of vanilla and herbal hints. Over moderate sweet and bitter. Over medium body, just below average carbonation. Smooth, slightly foamy and bit sticky mouthfeel. Long lasting smoky and bittery finish. Nice complexity.

(Draught at Bierlokaal Uiver, Haarlem, 29 Aug 2019) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, chocolate, dark rye bread and hints of smoke. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, chocolate, dark bread, a touch of smoke and a balanced roasty bitterness. Almost full body, with a touch of sweetness. Solid and well made porter with a balanced smoke touch. Very nice.

Bottle shared at Maakun’s. Dark brown with offwhite head. Sweet roasted dark malts, peaty smokey, earthy, coffee roast. Sweet and bitter. Medium body and soft carbonation. Quite nice. Prefer this over the BA as far as I remember.

Draught @ the brewpub Aroma has smoke and baking stuff. Also some hay. Flavour has vaking stuff, some smoke, hints of tar and some licorice. Too sweet and stuffy, drinkability suffers.

On tap at Bierlokaal de Uiver. Already had the very first rendition of this beer (Smokey the Barracuda) at Kimchi festival, when Kromme Haring were still homebrewing. Excellent beer as I recall it. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of lots of peat, leather, finger paint, roast, dark chocolate, caramel. Flavour follows, nice and peaty, smooth, chocolate, malts, bitter finish. Medium bodied. Good.

Pours cloudy black with a lasting, small, foamy, beige head. Aroma of tobacco, toast, fondant, fig, black olive, charcoal, smoked ham. Taste is light malty sweet, restrained chocolate paired with fruity notes of fig & raisin, built on a solid smoky-umami base of olive, tobacco & somewhat salty licorice. Powdery effect in the back. Bitter edges of herbs & toast lead the way to a dryish, herbal hoppy finish with lingering smoke, toast & touch of coffee. Medium body, slick-creamy texture, soft carbonation. Nicely balanced Smoked, a bit Porter-y too.
