Named after the motto of House Targaryen, Fire and Blood is inspired by Daenerys Targaryen and her three dragons, Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion. To celebrate the rebirth of dragons, three different labels were created by the Game of Thrones visual effects specialists, each depicting one of Daenerys' feared dragons. Randomly distributed amongst the cases, each case will contain all three bottles.
Fire and Blood has a deep, dark red hue with a persistent, creamy off-white head. Aromas of ripe fruit, raisins, malt and slight spice, followed by a slightly floral and spicy hop character. A fruity, sweetish malt taste gives way to faint drying provided by the hops and rye. Underlying flavors of raisin and prune from the ancho chilies give way to a balanced malty and spicy finish.
Malt: Pilsner, Cara-60, Midnight Wheat, flaked rye and spelt
Hops: CTZ, Styrian Golding, German Tettnang
Spices: Ancho Chilies
Pair with pastrami, jerk chicken, pulled pork, Mexican cuisine (such as burritos), and sharp cheddar and pepper jack cheeses.

Bottle at RBESG ’14, day 4 not so grand tasting at Craft Clerko, 10/08/14 from the Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa. Hazed chestnut brown with a decently appointed beige covering. Nose is Belgian yeast esters, spice, candied fruit peel, tangy dark fruit rinds. Taste comprises much the same, grassy, straw, yeast esters, tangy dark fruits, light rye bread. Medium + body, spritzy carbonation a touch OTT for me, candied fruit peels resonate in the close. Ok Belgian stylee that has to be assigned as ’speciality pissing grain’ just cos it has bastard rye in it !

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours hazy orange-amber with a small white head. The nose is sweet, spicy, wood, earth, residual sugars, cake, bread, smoke and dirt. The taste is bitter, wood, brown bread, alcohol, cereal, toast and grain with a dry, spiced finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not a whole lot to it. So-so.

750 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown with full head that settles to a moderate foamy head. Aromas of dark brown sugar, roasted malts, and light vegetables. Flavors are similar with a heavy emphasis on dry roasted malts and additional dry spicy notes. Can’t really get the chilies though these may come across as a slight burnt flavor.
