Named after the motto of House Targaryen, Fire and Blood is inspired by Daenerys Targaryen and her three dragons, Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion. To celebrate the rebirth of dragons, three different labels were created by the Game of Thrones visual effects specialists, each depicting one of Daenerys' feared dragons. Randomly distributed amongst the cases, each case will contain all three bottles.
Fire and Blood has a deep, dark red hue with a persistent, creamy off-white head. Aromas of ripe fruit, raisins, malt and slight spice, followed by a slightly floral and spicy hop character. A fruity, sweetish malt taste gives way to faint drying provided by the hops and rye. Underlying flavors of raisin and prune from the ancho chilies give way to a balanced malty and spicy finish.
Malt: Pilsner, Cara-60, Midnight Wheat, flaked rye and spelt
Hops: CTZ, Styrian Golding, German Tettnang
Spices: Ancho Chilies
Pair with pastrami, jerk chicken, pulled pork, Mexican cuisine (such as burritos), and sharp cheddar and pepper jack cheeses.

If you’re looking for peppers in this one; good luck. More like a wheat beer with earthy hop finish.

Bottle shared during the RBESG 2014 Sunday tasting at Craft Beer Co. Clerkenwell. Pours clear amber-gold with a white cream head. Yeast-forward, with rich lightly toasted bread, candi sugar. Faint plastic and bitter grain husk. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Moderately sweet on the finish with further yeast and grain husk. So so. I’ve had much better from Ommegang.

Bottle: Poured a deep copper color ale with a nice thick off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light spicy rye notes with some caramelized malt notes is OKish. Taste is also dominated by spicy rye notes with some caramelized malt notes. Body is about average with good carbonation doesn’t’ really stand out and chilies notes are way too subtle.

Aroma is mineral, sweaty caramel and some earthy honey malts. Flavour is composed of honey, caramel malts with Belgian yeast notes. Slight earthy finish. Palate is sweet, sticky, highly carbonated, medium bodied.

Bottle, from the Gibsons LDB.
Murky dark red. Aroma has more fruity acid notes than you’d expect. Malty, caramel mostly with some fruity character, and just a touch of ancho. Not entirely cohesive.
