Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is heavy cognac, dried fruits, alcohol, raisins, grapes, oak, caramel malt, sherry. Flavour is quite sweet with a little bitterness and a lot of booze. Body is full and sticky. Not balanced at all, barrel dominates, but surprisingly nice to sip on.

Bottle at home in Hackney - sourced from online. Pours deep copper-brown with a small, foamy off-white head. Big and woody, moderately sweet, with nips of vanilla, toffee, raisins, toasted bread. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, lightly sticky, with nice notes of toasted wood, wholegrain bread, more toffee, low bitterness, a hint of leaves and tobacco, earth, a little vanilla. Tons of depth. The barrel character is immense. Good fun. Took a couple sips to get into it but then it was a pleasurable ride.

Dark, reddish brown. Thin layer of foam. Smells very oaky, little bit sweet. Smooth. Loads of barrel, mostly tons of oak, but also some warming armagnac. Barleywine is there, raisiny, some bitterness. Smooth, but a bit unbalanced. Enjoyable nonetheless.

Bottle. Dark brown color. Dominating armagnac and vanilla in the aroma. Raisin. Malty sweet, slightly perfumed raisinny flavor with oak, vanilla, armagnac, dried fruit and a hint of caramel. Nice.

0.33 l bottle from 'Het Biermoment', best before December 2021, cellared for almost one-and-a-half years. Clear, dark ruby with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity aroma of molasses, raisins, figs, vanilla and liquor. Very sweet, malty, just moderately bitter, slightly a bit fruity taste of molasses, vanilla, lots of Armagnac, raisins and prunes, followed by a long, moderately bitter, warming-alcoholic finish. Full body, smooth and almost oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Great flavours, very pleasant on the palate, just a bit too boozy.

29th April 2018
Hazy deep amber beer, a few pale cream colour bubbles. Palate is fairly dry and has decent fine minerally carbonation. Smooth dry malts, a little caramel and a touch of bitterish toffee. Mild wet wood. Good Armagnac ripe grapey fruits. Trace of sherry. Tangy fruity finish. Nice. Could be more sumptuous but pretty drinkable.
