Chocolate, fudge and hazelnut unite in this impressive beer, part of this brewery’s new range of craft beers. It is deliciously fudgy, rich and nutty, brimming with richness, while boasting the subtle flavours of cinnamon and Belgian chocolate. Hops used: Goldings

Bottle from Tesco, Brighouse. Dark brown with a creamy head. Has a fabulous chocolate aroma. It’s more nutty in its flavour.

Cask at The William Jolle (Wetherspoons), Northwood Hills. A dark brown/ruby coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Sweet, hazelnut, nutella, aroma. Tastes similar, very sweet, hazelnut, nutella, hint of coffee and some vanilla, very rich indeed. Reminded me of a sweet brownie type dessert. Probably too sweet, but I really enjoyed this one. Very different.

Cask at the moon under water Watford. Some split opinions on this one. First of the aroma, you can smell it at 20 paces. Big praline nutty sweet caramel and coffee extract. Murky brown pour with a thin cream fleeting head. Flavour is lacking. It is sweet, but has a sharp apple thing that’s a bit weird. Sweet but lacks the body of a dessert beer. Not a fan.

Cask at the Pommeler’s Rest, JDW - London. Pours clear, ruby-brown with a mild, foamy tan head. The aroma has lots of dusty cocoa, some toast, dried fruit. Light sweet flavor with artificial chocolate, earthy bitterness, some slick toasted toffee. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately warming to finish with further dusty, dubious cocoa, chalky earth and hazelnut creme. Kind of odd.

Cask handpull at Thomas Ingoldsby Spoons Canterbury. Dark brown beer almost black with disappearing beige head. Strong sweet hazelnut on the aroma. Ok in mouth but the finish gets a bit lax. Not the sweet conviction of say a Southern tier beer. I like hazelnut. But this is actually undrinkable. Worse than the Innis & Gunn which at least I finished. This is horrible

Lovely: I like sweet malty brews and this was right up my street. Hand-pulled third of a pint on 16th Oct 2013 in the Wellington Wetherspoon’s. Red hue to the dark brown body: on top a lightly tanned head of foam. The nose is vanilla, chocolate and nuts: very strong and fairly sweet. The taste is also intense: chocolate first, then hazelnuts, then vanilla, then caramel, then coffee, all blending together to produce a dessert beer of the finest quality. Rich, smooth and yummy. The alcohol doesn’t reach out: where has the 6.3% ABV gone I wonder? You couldn’t drink pint after pint, it’s too sweet for that, but I loved it and would have had another if I hadn’t been on a mission.

Cask at the Willow Walk, London - where every day is a veritable beer festival, 16/10/13. Dark mahogony brown with a moderately sized light tan head. Nose is dark malts, sugar, bourbon biscuits, hazelnut, nutella. Taste comprises sweet candied sugars, hazelnut well evident, artifical chocolate, nutty chocolate brownie - it really does what it says on the tin! Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, sweet finish with a hint of roastiness. Ok, drinkable (just) but way too sweet. The chocolate smacks of cheap ingredients/artificial tones, this was my main gripe with their mocha effort.
