Bottle drank on hols in St Ives. Opaque dark brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is light and dry. Fine minerally carbonation. Very mellow dark malts, a little unsweet dark chocolate and mild coffee. Vague Maltesers! Dry finish. Tasty mild stout, but too dry.

Cask at Great British Beer Festival 2013. Poured a black colour with a thin beige head. Aroma roasted malt, prunes and liquorice. Mouth feel was not as thick as I was hoping. Nutty flavours with coffee and molasses. Palate has burnt malts, but with blackcurrent cordial sweetness and the hint of blackjack sweets.

On tap at Gbbf 2013. Black beer bit of liquorice on aroma. Blackberry. Too much liquorice for me but I liked the blackberry wine flavour.

On gravity at Bristol Beer Festival 14/3/2013. Opaque and almost jet black, with a slight tan head. Roasted malts, smooth chocolate and a touch of dark fruit. Easy drinking for the ABV, with a dryish finish. Very good.
