Bottle shared at Bruce’s pad, big thanks to Paulo for fixing this one, 16/01/14. Light black with a thinnish tan head that escapes to edgework, Nose carries a subtle whisky layer, chocolate, light roast, dark toffee fudge, coffee, sweet aromas. Taste comprises coffee, chocolate, well integrated and not too overpowering whisky, light roast, sweet licks. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, smooth on the palate. An easy drinking BA stout, never gets hot, winner !

Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth with very modest carbonation. Smooth dark malts with a nice touch of dark chocolate. Mild violets and smooth fruity bourbon. No spice or heat. Mild dark fruits. Smooth finish. Another delightful example of how a barrel aged beer doesn’t have to knock you over the head with it’s abv.

Bottle from Siren. It pours darkest brown with a small tan head. The nose is milk chocolate, light smoke, wood, earth, charred wood, treacle and creamy marshmallow. The taste is smooth, unctuous, soft roast, toffee, chocolate, cocoa, wood, vanilla, bourbon, toast and marshmallow. Medium+ body, fine carbonation and soft mouth-feel. Super smooth and quaffable. Brilliant balance and high drinkability. Brilliant.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Paul. Pours dark brown with a frothy beige head. The nose has rich chocolate, toasted marshmallow, vanilla, slight wood. Medium sweet flavor with lots of milk chocolate, burnt caramel, mild barrel character, low bitterness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with further milk chocolate, faint toffee, earth, torched wood, mellow caramel. Quite, quite tasty.

Bottle at Home, from Brewery, 24th December 13. Pours deep black, little or no head. Aroma is coffee, bourbon, some molasses, slight salty liquorice. Taste is smooth as silk, coffee infused with bourbon seamlessly, not as much Bourbon notes, as the Jim Beam BA, perhaps, some dark sugar, and a little bitterness on the finish. Very good
