440ml can from M&S Broadstairs. Pours very dark / black with a deep tan head. Aroma of unctious caramel and rich chocolate dessert. Flavour profile continues in this vein, I've always liked a nice caramel stout and this presents that nice smooth full bodied character well. However, it is labelled a caramel cookie chocolate stout, and there are no cookie notes at all, so have marked down slightly for that.

440ml can from M&S in London, England. Pours a pitch black color with a thick, light tan head and very good retention. Decent lacing. Dark roasted malt aroma. Very dark roasted flavor too. Nice caramel notes and lactose with enough bitter dark chocolate flavor for balance. Medium body and medium carbonation. Light bitterness. And the 8.0% ABV is really well hidden. Really good beer, and easily one of the best imperial stouts I've ever had.

Flavoured stout by this well-established craft brewery in West Yorkshire; can from the Marks & Spencer in Union Square, Aberdeen. Yellowish beige, medium sized, ‘Brugse kant’-like lacing, firm head over a very dark chocolate brown robe – as good as black, but still visibly dark brown, if you get my drift. Aroma of sticky toffee pudding, chocolate crisps, brownies soaked in liqueur, fig compote, praliné, Belgian chocolates, blueberry crumble, pear syrup, actual blueberries somewhere, very vague hints of miso and beef olives. Densely sweet onset yet not nowhere as sweet and sticky as feared, fruity touches of blueberry, pear and fresh fig, softly carbonated with very full, rounded mouthfeel – creamy alright, but not in a lactose-induced way. Layers of thick toffee, Macadamia nuttiness, brown bread dough and evidently dark chocolate follow, thoroughly toffeeish yet managing to keep avoiding exaggerated sweetness – ending supple and sweet but not sticky, with a roasty coffeeish element for balance, a herbal hop note and warming to eventually lightly astringent, whisky-like alcohol. This is liquid sticky toffee pudding, but without the overt stickiness – in fact it proved far less sweet than the average pastrys stout today and did not show a trace of that overexposed lactose. This is one flavoured stout I can hugely appreciate, for being both restrained and utterly convincing at once.

Can from Eltham Sainsburys. Nose is chocolate caramel, cookie dough, demerara sugar, coffee, raisin. Taste is much the same with a splash of sweet tobacco coming through in the back end. Heavy sweet & malty.

Can at home picked up from Supermarche. A jet black coloured pour with a lasting light tan head. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, sweet caramel, brown sugars. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, cocoa, powder, toffee, caramel biscuit, brown sugars. little thin and cloying, chocolate syrup. Palate is semi sweet, medium sweet, oily, cloying, mellow carbonation. too sweet, not much pay off.

Svart med beige skumring. Lukter veldig sjokolade. Noe karamell og røstet malt. Mye av det samme i smaken. kanskje mer karamell en sjokolade. Absolutt god men mangler litt trøkk.

0,44 boks fra M&S Muswell Hill, delt med Steven: brunsvart med ok skum. Dufter og smaker akkurat som forventet, gitt navnet. Noe lactose. Fin urtebitterhet i avslutningen slik at den ikke blir for søtt, heller litt kaffeaktig.
