Bottle at the Cock. Dark brown/black colour, small bubbly golden head. Aroma is mostly roasty, bit of smoke, bit of vanilla. Taste is pretty good. Nice fruitiness, can't remember what dandelion and burdock tastes like but probably like this. Cherry fruitiness, dark fruit, pretty sweet. Finish is long roasty and fruity. Very nice. Quite full bodied and lots of taste but only 5.1%. Keg @ Vocation & Co, Hebden Bridge. Black with a thin off-white head. Is well-stated with its roasted malts in its nose, and has a very good taste too with a mild smoothness in its texture.

Bottle from BottleDog, Edinburgh. Dark brown body with a thin beige head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of liquorice root, Twiglets and burnt wood. Flavour of elderflower, roasted malt and paracetamol. Medium body with a slick mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Unusual, nice.

Bottle from Sourced Market St Pancras and drunk at home. Black beer lasting thin tan head. Paper and spice and chocolate aroma. Chocolate and spice in the mouth, a little fruit maybe. Spice on the finish. It’s ok, if not something I’d normally drink. It’s ok, some juicyness.

Black colour, tan head. Aroma of coffee, caramel, malts and cacao. Coffee flavour, caramel, quite sweet. Finish coffee, loads of caramel, some chocolate.

Shared bottle at RB/HD 07.02.15. Black. Brown head. Strong aroma of pine and roasted malt, with a slight touch aceton. Similar taste. Perhaps a bit waterish. A hint of chili in first aftertaste.

Flaske på rbhd-treff feb-15: intens aroma av diverse ugress (bl.a. Tromsøpalme). Smaken er ikke så skarp som dette skulle tilsi. Mer interessant enn egentlig god.

Shared bottle at local tasting. Black colour, moderate to low tan head. Strange and unpleasant aroma of solvent and dandelion roots, also dust and wet basement. The flavour is not particularly good either, dry and dusty with notes of stale cold coffee. Remarkably poor.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, huge, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, tan head. Chocolately, roasty, dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, dry cocoa, tar, coal, leather, presumably imaginary herbal notes, milk from dandelion stalks. Taste is dry, roasty dark malty, notes of dark chocolate, a herbal touch, hints of tar and liquorice, leather. Fully body, smooth, soft, silky palate. Rich and intense like an Imperial Porter with double its abv. Awesome!

Cask at 31st Pig’s Ear beer & cider festival 2014, Hackney, London. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Roasty, malty, coffee aroma. Tastes roasty, malty, coffee, earthy, almost meaty. Not one for me.
