9th Oct 2018. hand-pulled pint in The Crosse Keys (a London Wetherspoon). Dark brown body, ruby hue; on top a beige blanket of foam. malts rule the roost here, with chocolate, dark fruits and caramel notes in both the aroma and taste. Semi-sweet, yet with a bitter harshness in the finish. Not in great condition (a bit tired and towards the end of the barrel).

Cask @ JDW Elgin
Brown...clear...thin white head...reasonable lacing
Aroma - caramel malts...bit of light roast malt..hint of chocolate
Taste - caramel malts..some toasty malts..some fruity malts...yeast
Palate - soft carb...medium body...smooth. Finish as main flavour...increased roast comes through then replaced with a metallic rust bitterness in the linger
Overall - Started off as an above average premium bitter but that metallic bitterness in the tail spoilt it

Cask at the Plough and Harrow, JDW, London. Pours clear copper with a sturdy, white foam head. Aroma holds a nice bit of toasty caramel. The flavor is lightly sweet with more caramel, toasty malts, light leafy bitters, and the suggestion of dried fruits. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Quite dry to finish, with notes of toast and leaves and impressions of cocoa. Not bad, really.

50cl bottle from Moor & More Beers, Plymouth. Hazy bronze in colour with ring of off-white head; fruity malt aroma; thinly bodied with some fruit and malt, but with a marked petrol taste that is rather disturbing; and a sourish finish. I’m not sure if this was slightly off - if not it’s certainly unusual!
