Normally released around Christmas time, and maybe a special release sometime in May, The Vader Shuffle is a wood aged Belgian porter.

Hints of oak, spice and roast coming from the oak, Belgian yeast and roasted malts respectively. A cult classic from way back in the day!

Craft Clerkenwell 2nd Birthday Bonanza! Cask. Almost clear amber beer, little pale tan head. Smooth and soft palate. Sweetish mellow Belgian yeast, Little Coca Cola and generic fruit. Touch of bubblegum and light wood. Trace of malt cream. Finishes smooth and semi dry. Tasty little beer. Actually not that little.

On gravity at the Volunteer, Bristol 25/05/2013. Dark brown with next to no head. Sweet, Caramel, prune, milk chocolate and wood aroma. Flavour had more chocolate, some yeasty fruits, a hint of spice and led to a gentle, soft finish. Enjoyable.

Cask at Craft Beer Co Islington. It pours deep brown with a medium beige head. The nose is earth, toast, caramel, dark fruit, date, prune and light spice. The taste is caramel, wood, candy sugar, dark fruit, vanilla, raisin, earth, date and spice with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Good depth of flavour and rather well balanced. Tasty!

Cask at Craft Islington, 16/05/13. Mahogony brown with a medium sized light tan/beige head. Nose is dark fruits, dark toffee, spice. Taste comprises woody notes, light booze, licqourice, toffee, spice, dark fruits, dates, raisens, marshmallow. Medium bodied with bite, soft carbonation, spicey finish with a touch of warming alcohol in the finish. Decent enough fayre although I’d have classed it as a Dubbel not a porter.

Cask at CBC Islington - London. Pours clear brown with a fine, creamy head. Some dark bread in the nose, toasty sugars, hints of ripe fruits. Medium sweet flavor, some wet wood, red wine oak barrel, dry fruits, toasted sugars. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly vinous and dry to finish, a bit of wood, light earth, further dried berries. I quite like the oak character in here.
