Bottle: Poured a clear brown color ale with a super large dirty white head with excellent retention and some good lacing. Aroma of caramel malt with some oak notes and funky ester is a weird mix that I wasn’t expecting. Taste is a mix between some tart notes with lightly sweet caramel malt with dry funky yeast notes. Body is light with perfect carbonation. Glad I’ve had the chance to try this beer but not sure it is something I would seek on a regular basis.

Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell during the Gunnar Tasting - London. Thanks to Fergus for this one. Pours clearish red-brown with a creamy, beige head. Dusty cocoa on the nose with accents of toasted bread and tangy leather. Light sweet flavor with leathery fruits, faint rubber, dirt, touches of maple. Light bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Lightly tangy on the finish with more old leather predominating. Alright, novel; so THIS is what an oaked farmhouse mild is like - I had always wondered.

Bottle share at the Gunnar tasting at CBC clerkenwell. Bottle from cotteridge wines. Clouded caramel red coloured pour with a lasting off white head. Aroma is oak, caramel, slight honey and effervesent. Flavour is iron, blood, caramel and nutty mineral. Palate is really thin, watery mineral. Carbonation is too high. Not great.

Tap. Pours clear deep ruby brown, small tan head, good lacing. Aroma is rich malty, caramel, toffee, touch of smoke. Flavor is light sweet, little bitterness, lightly smoky, malty. Light body, high carbonation. Pretty good for the style.

Got in a trade with cyde. 750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy deep ruby red color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, pear, apple, raisin, chocolate, toast, brown bread, nuttiness, toffee, oak, light vanilla, herbal, floral, pepper, clove, and yeast earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great complexity and balance of malt, fruity/spicy yeast, and oak notes; and great strength. Taste of big caramel, pear, apple, raisin, chocolate, toast, brown bread, toffee, nuttiness, pepper, clove, oak, light vanilla, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, light fruits, chocolate, toast, brown bread, toffee, oak, light vanilla, clove, pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Outstanding robustness, complexity, and balance of malt, oak, and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; with a great malt/yeast spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a slightly creamy, smooth, and crisp mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 3.5%. Overall this is an incredible farmhouse mild ale! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of malt, yeast, and oak flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Central Market, 11/4/13, Batch #5
Aroma: The aroma is fairly light, some wood, a bit of art berry, mild caramel, and a bit of cardboard
Appearance: It pours a mahogany color with a thick froth of beige head and some drippy lace
Flavor: The taste is much the same, some tartness, wood, and mild malty and spice flavors
Palate: The body is light and just a bit thin, but not watery, with a tingly feel/carbonation
Overall Impression: This is a nice take on the style overall. There's a decent amount going on here considering that we are talking about such a low ABV beer. I enjoyed it.

750 ml bottle purchased at Pinocchio’s Beer Garden in Media, Pennsylvania. The pour is a clear brown mahogany with a small off white head. The aroma has a soft tobacco along with oak wood. The taste is a pleasant blend of the earthy tobacco and oak wood, softly vanilla notes of the nose. The palate is light to medium bodied, soft carbonation and a softly sweet finish. A bunch going on for such a low ABV beer. Nice mild.
