Bottle. Bier Huis, Ossett. Opens with the customary Five Towns Hiss. Here we go, again. Hazy straw colour. Huge, lively, bubbly, white head. Nose has a big, lemony twang. Hay. Lemon yoghurt. Funky as you like. How a 3.7% Pale Ale can smell so funky is quite remarkable. Taste follows suit, and is tangy and citric sour. Some dryness. Foamy, full mouthfeel. More twang on the finish with a bitter linger.

Huddersfield Oktoberfest 2015. Blonde coloured ale. Light tasting and sessionable, there’s a good hop-malt balance and a gentle citrus-fruitiness from its slightly thin tasting texture.

Cask at the Nags Head, Reading. Pale straw with a thin white head; citrus aroma; grainy body, with a rather muddy grapefruit taste; and a sweetish finish. Refreshing, but nothing more.
