They should be good men; their affairs as righteous: But all hoods make not monks. Beneath a deep blanket of snow there is a cereal grain that can survive the harsh winters and acidic soils - RYE. Like a draped hood over a monk, it is the righteousness inside that shines.

from a 16 oz can as pictured. big hoppy ipa aroma of pine tar. rude crude and triple nude; on style, heheh. is bitter pine tar mixed with the chewy flavor of dried green grapefruit rinds. Let me see now, can I feel any co2? Well maybe but this stuff is so strong and ipa nasty. Just a double IPA with a darker hue. Long bitter oily hops finish. Mouth coating un scented handsoap strong beer. wewwwweweww - high amount of hops is an understatement.

Aroma is pine and thistle, pretty strong, but with a dog doo smell underneath. Hazy copper, thick yellow lacing head. Alcohol fairly noticeable.Wood and pine flavor, subtle cherry and overripe orange notes present as well. Drinks like an imperial amber, but not as good as other ones I’ve had. Slightly resinous. Kind of weird at first, but not bad once you get used to it.

On tap at Brinkley’s, Manhattan NY on 19th July 2011. Copper with offwhite head. Aroma of fruit grain and spice - beautifully fragrant. Main taste of liquid is rich, pungently fragrant earth, herbs spice and berry fruit. Very bitter and herby finish. Thick, full-mouth engaging texture, zingy feel. Great.

Can from Half Time. Pours dark ruddy amber with a creamy beige head. Nose is largely citrus hop over roasty malt. Med + body. Flavor is rye but there’s an large amount of hop. Floral and citrus hop with a little pine(maybe that’s rye?). Quite tasty, and it is NW hoppy.

16 ounce can, best by Sept. 29, 2011. Pours slightly hazy reddish brown color with a dense 2 finger off white head with great retention that reduces to a thin lacing cap that lasts. Some decent lacing is left on the glass as well. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, roasted malt, spicy rye, pine, and citrus. A lot of interesting aromas going on here, great stuff. Taste of caramel, rye, chocolate, pine, bread, nuttiness, and some citrus. Mostly malty sweetness on the front with a decent amount of bitterness on the finish that lingers for a bit with caramel, chocolate, bread, and pine. Medium-full bodied with medium carbonation. No alcohol noticed in the taste or finish. Decent amount of creaminess in the mouthfeel as well. Nice balance as well between sweetness and bitterness, with the sweetness being slightly stronger. Overall, an excellent rye ale, highly enjoyable and very drinkable stuff.

Can. Pours a near clear brown with a slight amber hue and a white head that laces thickly. Aroma has a really nice citrus hop note backed by some light pine and a nice rye note as well. Flavor begins with a bit of light rye that combines nicely with some citrus and grapefruit and has a bit of pine towards the finish. Really nice beer.

Pours deep amber into a Shaker. Off-white micro head with excellent retention recedes leaving spider lacing to coat surface. Caramel, pumpernickel and resin aromas. Medium bodied with sweet cinnamon roll upfront turning to pumpernickel before the last rye finish.

Draught at Fette Sau as Righteous Rye. Mildly hoppy aroma, like a mixture of American and German hops. Cloudy dark brown colour. Very small tna head. The flavour starts off nicely roasted, then comes a mild aroma hoppiness. The finish is malty and roasted with a slightly strange tartness. Good nevertheless.

Had on draught a few times, most recently at the Ainslie Block Party. Pours a dark, muddy brown with a medium, tan-white head. Aroma has some nice, roasty malts, wood, spice and mild caramel. Flavor is sweet with more caramel and, doughy bread, rye spiceiness and some earthy bitters. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Finishes with some light, burnt malts and lingering hops. A very good, dynamic beer.
