The Grande Noirceur is an intensely black and dense beer with pronounced roasted flavours. The bitterness is very imposing but is balanced by a malty-caramel taste. The alcohol content is quite high, but its presence remains discrete in this beer.

Bottle at home. Pitch black with brown head. Deep roast, leather, quite fruity with blue and black berries, toffee, ash, cocoa. Very nice mix between bitter roast, and malty and fruity sweetness. Almost full bodied with soft carbonation. Lovely beer.

Draft glass @ CML Fontainas. Black, soapy mocha head, largely solid. Nose is overly umami, cacao, licorice, mocha. Heavy umami, licorice body with heavy vegetable coffee, bitter roast,.. Body is licorice, umami, cacao,... Interesting to try a Dieu du Ciel classic with a cool name but I found it far too licorice heavy for my preference with strong vegetable coffee,... Not my thing unlike expected.

From the tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours black with brownish foam. Aroma is hazelnut, light coffee notes, a fruity note. Body is medium-dense. Taste is predominantly bitter and roasted, though there’s a little of underlying sweetness. Finish is long and roasted/bitter.

Dziwne, zjebane w aromacie (za swieze), bardzo popiolowe w ustach, milo pelne, po wylezakowaniu mogloby byc faktycznie bdb, teraz tylko ciek

Bottle from the LCBO. Inky black with a small dark mahogany head that fades quickly to a sheet. Nose is lots of roast, molasses, coffee, dark chocolate, dark fruit, with notes of licorice, vanilla and minerals. Taste is light sweet molasses with a much more pronounced coffee and chocolate bitterness and a touch of plum tartness. Mouth is medium+ and chewy with soft carbonation and a lingering bitter finish. 8+/4/9/4/17

Draught. Inky black with small creamy reddish-tan head, mocha aroma, medium carbonation, bitter mocha taste with alcohol overtones, thick body, long bitter finish. The alcohol bite is a bit too obvious.

Bottle shared at the November THT at deanso’s place. Pitch black with a thin tan head. Notes of both brewed and roasted coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, molasses. Full body, smooth texture and a roasty, chocolatey bitter-sweet finish.
