Dispensary, Liverpool; 29th June 2019. Hand-pulled half-pint. It had just come on and I was the first person to have one, had to wait while the landlord attached the pump-clip to the pump before he would serve me. It looks and tastes like a Mild, dark and deep brown, tanned topping. Malty and semi-bitter, semi-sweet, nice.

Cask at The Dispensary, Liverpool. It pours near black with a thick, dense tan cap. The aroma is earthy roast, umami, liquorice, toasted nut and coffee grounds. The taste is firmly dry, light bitterness, toasty grain, charred wood, earth, liquorice and some coffee grounds. Light to medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. Fulsome stuff. Nice body. A rather decent mild.

Cask @ Dispensary, Liverpool. Black with a creamy off-white head. Crisp ale that sinks down the palate with ease. Not high on any flavours, but certainly has an excellent texture and mouthfeel. There’s some sweetness in its nose and taste.

Cask at The Dispensary - Liverpool. Pours clear brown with a creamy, tan head. Mellow aroma of dark bread, slight berries, light toast and cocoa. Light sweet flavor with further toasted bread, dark fruits, suggestions of burnt wood and chocolate. Light bodied with fine with fine carbonation; great condition. Balanced finish, some dark malt sweetness, nips of earth, wood, toast. Solid mild.

Cask ale, half pint at The Dispensary. Dark coloured body with a deep, ruby shade. Faint, fawn-coloured head. Smell of grainy malts. Mid sweet flavour of cocoa balanced by fruity hops. Dry bitter endnots. Easy going, but does not feel that thin on the swallow (Liverpool, 09.04.2013).

It’s not retired yet it seems
Black, big ruby edges in glass, nice dense off white head
Aroma - light bitter roast, touch of spicyness, not a lot on the nose
Taste - Soft roasted malts, dab of chocolate, hint of milk sugars, bitter roast. flavour a little dull but it is 3.4%
Palate - thin to medium body, soft bitter palate. Finish as main flavour, dark malts in the linger with some soft bitter roast
Overall - OK mild, bit bitter, would prefer a little more sweetness
