330ml bottle. Sticky sweet caramelised pork ribs in a beer. Plenty of charcoal, sweet caramel, savoury meat and so much smoke. A little fruity apple too. Unique, sure. Fun, I guess. I quite enjoyed the half bottle I drank, but I don’t think I could have finished a whole bottle, and I don’t think I’d ever want to drink it again. Edit: Had to drink it again, and a whole bottle this time. Goddamnit Beer Jerk.

Whoa, no holding back on the smoke here. Zero balance. Aroma is smoke. Appearance was a muddy Amber and a small head that quickly faded. Flavor is a not too Pleasant combination of smoke soap and more bitter than a little sweet with some carbonation. Long unpleasant Smoky bitter finish.

330ml bottle from Honest Brew. Pours a misty gold, aroma is turps, booze and peat. Taste is secondary school chemistry lesson, boozy peat, smoke, TCP with a slick mouthfeel. Was tough to finish this, but with no other beers to hand that were cold, finish it I did.

330ml bottle into pint glass. Smells like alcohol, BBQ sauce and medicine. Looks like industrial waste water, translucent orange/brown with wisp of white film on top. Taste is (very) dark fruit and dry wood. Peat is everywhere. The finish is long, the smokiness continues and is joined by raisins, nail polish, wood shavings and alcohol. The opposite of easy-drinking. Interesting but not enjoyable.

From a 330ml bottle on 5/12/2015. Pours a murky dark golden with not much of a head. The nose is full on peat, with a smoky, bacony vibe. There’s masses of peat and smoke in the flavour, but there’s also a lovely fruity sweetness in there which complements the smoky intensity, with a mild but sticky bitterness. The texture is slick and the carbonation is very soft. This is a lovely, crazy, peaty beer. Reminds me of Hopdog’s sublime 2013 Super Beast, which is very high praise.

After the horrors of Rex Attitude I approached this one with much caution. Hazy amber beer, small cream colour head. Palate is light and mildly crisp. Mildly sweet toffee malts, trace if cream. The peat is pretty light after Rex Attitude. Thank God! But it’s still a peat laden beer. Dry finish. Passable. Hides the abv well.

Keg at the Hanging Bat. Pours clear gold with a thin white head. Aromas of smoke, peat, oranges. Taste is woody, smoke, light sour. Some citrus fruit. Oily to thin texture. Doesn?t drink to the strength. Very smoky building flavour.

Bottle. Thanks to me bro for not scooping this himself! It pours clear deep orange with a small off-white head. The nose is big, rich, smoke, earth, massive dirty smoked peat, smoked cheese and plenty of medicinal action. The taste is rich, bitter-sweet, big smoke, peat, earth, oily, straw, honeyed grain, medicinal dirt, whisky and warming alcohol with a det, warming finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. Yup. This does it for me. Big smoked peat equals fun times.
