Bottle from Tesco Exmouth. Clear yellow, mid-sized head. Malt flavours dominate, with some shy but quite ok hop flavours in the finish. Easy-drinking lightweight.

Bottle at home in London. Picked it up at Waitrose. Pours clear, pinkish-red-gold with a faint, white foam head and plenty of effervescence. Light malt nose, faint toast and sugar. Light to medium sweet flavor, some caramel, bread, faint fruits (berries). Light bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet, lightly sugary finish, more lightly toasted malts, light wet earth, and a bit more dull caramel. It’s low alcohol stuff, but it could still be better.

Bottle at Chriso’s Easter tasting 2012. It pours golden yellow, with a thin white head. the nose is straw, dough, sulphur and butter. The taste is sweet malt, dough, butter, cardboard and straw. Light body and moderate carbonation. There is nothing endearing about this.

500ml bottle. Pours dark orange with a thin head. Aroma is bread, boiled orange, prickle of co2. Taste has some watery orange to start. Bread on the finish with a little apple on the aftertaste. Bland.

50cl bottle from Tesco. Pale copper with a rapidly fading white head; malty aroma; the flavour is of caramel malts with a touch of sulphurous mud; then some light hops but a predominantly malty finish. Not too impressed with this, it’s nowhere near as good as the GK and Fullers offerings in this category.
