Notting Hill Amber is a full-bodied creamy amber coloured beer with the citrus aroma and flavour well balanced by the sweet slightly toffee maltiness and a bitter dryness that lingers. There is a little flowery hop throughout. Its drinkability belies its strength.

Bottle from Oddbins in Old Brompton Road, Kensington. Poured a fairly clear amber with a thin off-white head which dissipated quickly. Aroma of grassy hops as well as caramel and grainy malts. Initial flavours of dried fruit and biscuit replaced by a slightly astringent hop bitterness.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at Oddbins London Bridge. Pours mostly clear amber with a slight, frothy white head. Nose has toasty malts, mild pine, some faint toasty grass, hints of dried caramel. Light to medium sweet flavor with moderate piney bitterness, more toasty grass, faint minerals, hints of melon and grapefruit. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Very lightly resinous finish with some toasty malts, lightly ripened citrus fruits such as grapefruit, melon and tangerine, some bread, mellow pine. Very drinkable amber.

330ml bottle. Clear amber colour with small to average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Piney, slightly herbal hop aroma with a touch of grapefruit, orange, red berries, minimally sweaty resinous background. Taste is initially citrusy and piney hoppy, later dry to bitter and minimally herbal hoppy; light body, slightly watery throughout the second half, (too) weak malt basis.

Bottle from Oddbins, London Bridge. Clear reddish amber colour with a lasting beige head. American hoppy aroma. Fruity hoppy malty, I think I really like amber beers, they are just the right blend of lots of beer flavours. This is decent. I’d be happy with a session on this. Yep it’s a decent little beer. I like the slightly grapefruity hops, I like the fruity malts that taste of autumn. Good balance.

Hazy amber beer, little cream coloured head. Light palate, dry. Grainy malt, a little malt cream. Mildly astringent citric hops. A good balance but it’s over dry and grainy.

Bottle from Oddbins, Blackheath - Pours amber with very thin to no head (hardly any carbonation) Caramel malt with medium dark/berry dried fruit tastes, orange peel, apricot. Only slight hop tones in there. Overall didn’t do much for me.

500ml bottle picked up at Sourced Market, St Pancras. Cloudy, apricot coloured body. Fading, off-white head. Mixed aroma of dried fruits, earth and caramel malts. Fresh malt-fruity taste leading to a nice bitter round off. Well balanced. Tasty (Hotel room, London, 27.11.2012).

Bottle from Oddbins, Blackheath. Cloudy amber pour, no head. Flat as a pancake. Apricot, caramel and some kind of vegetable (parsnips?) aroma. Citrus and light malt flavour. Bitter sweet linger. Light bitter finish. Needed a bit more life this one.
