bottle at brewtopia - mmm, good - very tripel-like it its spicy, citrusy, yeastiness - quite sweet, with complex notes of banana, clove (and other spices), honey, lemon rind - herbal notes - soft carbonation - nice mouthfeel - ranks up there with the 11.

Huge, slightly yellowish head, rather frothy, leaving some lace; pale amber to orange beer with greenish shine, very carbonised. Rather medicinal, phenolic nose, gliding towards more usual spices (coriander, galangaroot, some ginger) and the inevitable orange zest. Extremely spicey and again medicinal-phenolic in taste, all within acceptable limits. Unsettling flavours from old porcelain pharmaceutical pots full of dried Latin names. Slight, but quite fiery flavour, blending seamlessly with the alcohol. Very well-bodied. long spicey, more sweet aftertaste. An interesting interpretation of what I call strong blonde style. it is not unreminiscent of the - old, true - Hoegaarden Grand Cru. It is quite aggressive all the same; a must-try, but I had to struggle with the full 75cl. Big thanks to Martin and David.

Bottle – Poured a blonde beer with a nice head that disappeared a bit too quickly. Carbonation is super good with small bubble coming back on top of the beer for a while after it is poured. Aroma is very malty with some floral aspect in the background. Taste is very particular with one spice really coming out but I have difficulty in identifying it (maybe ginger or carmadone). One complaint that I usually have about Unibroue special edition beer is that the high level of alcohol is always too noticeable but in this case it is just perfect. Overall, I would say that this is one of my favourite Unibroue special edition beer.

Hazy blond beer with a large frothy head. Wonderful nose of coriander, yeast, pineapples, and alcool. Candy sugar, with bananas, and scotch laced fruits, plus ginger. Warm alcool body warms you up (tasted NY 2004)

Hazy orange colour with a nice dense tan head. Aroma of spruce, cough drops and malt. Heavy-bodied; Strong yeastiness and coriander seed. Aftertaste sprucey and piney-not too pleasant. Overall, very nice to try! I had this bottle at the Winter Party at Oakes' place in Toronto, Canada on 05-December-2003. Many thanks to MartinT for bringing up four of these 75 cL bottles!

Big, fluffy head. Cloudy, amber, "Maudite"-like appearance. Aroma of juniper, aniseed, celery seeds, rich malts and a hint of alcohol. Piney, junipery flavours mix with fat maltiness, and Unibroue's aggressive yeastiness. Very spicy, but tasty. Stylish, and inventive in the use of such overt spicing in a strong Belgian.
