500ml bottle. Pours dark orange brown with a small head. Aroma is dark fruits and toast. Taste has dark fruits to start, toast on the finish and berries on the aftertaste.

50cl bottle from Tesco’s, Camberley. An attractive bright chestnut colour with a ring of white head; straightforward malty aroma; sweet, chewy, fruity, malt taste - slightly stewed, but not too bad; and a gentle deep-rooted bitterness with some warming spice to finish. A rather good strong bitter.

500ml Bottle: best before 20 Jan 2013, poured into a UK pint sleeve @ home on 12 Dec 2012. Chestnut red/brown body: clear and clean. The head was a full blanket of white foam with lacing on the sides. Malts rule the aroma and taste: semi-sweet and fairly rich in depth, the hops giving the beer a bite and crispness that settles the malty sweetness down nicely. Those Challenger, Goldings and Fuggles Hops also ensure a floral and nutty feel is present within the maltiness of the body. Easy to drink and a pleasure to do so: I like the semi-sweet maltier brews and fits the profile well: full bodied and flavoursone, well done Elgood’s.

Clear mid-brown in colour, sustains no head. Only the mildest of fruits in nose and taste and not much bitterness.

Bottle at home in London with Lyoli. Pours a lightly hazy, dark gold with a tight, foamy head. Some tangy, toasty malts in the nose with hints of ripe berries. Medium sweet flavor with toasty bread, alcohol, light leafy bitterness, some ripe fruit. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish with dusty, toasty malts, a bit of booze, dirt and leaves, some fruit. It’s OK. Perhaps a little old, but still alright.

Bottle 500ml.Clear medium to dark orange amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light light heavy malty, caramel, toffee, burned caramel, nutty notes. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, burned caramel, bitter, toffee, nutty notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20111127]

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours amber with a slight haze and a rough off-white head. Subtle roast and a little licorice in the nose. Medium body, very fruity, a little roast and some phenols. Ends dry. 271111

Bottle. It pours a clear, amber body and a small, dense, off-white head. Quite alcoholic on the nose, with toffee and some anise, as well as dark dried fruits and some hops. Toffee, bitterness, anise notes and a metallic touch in the flavor. Full-bodied, warming and semi-dry. Lasting bitterness in the end. I find it a bit unbalanced, but it’s quite tasteful and nice anyway. 111127

Bottle @ Early Ulfborg Winter Gathering Season 11/12. Pours clear copper with a small white head. Sweet caramel and citrus. Toffee. Medium bodied. Burnt bitter end.
