The taste of grain has always been a vital part of the Scottish brewing tradition. We took the convention one step further, milling fine porridge oats right here in the brewery.

The result is an ale with the flavour of gentle hops, a creamy head and just the right amount of bitterness.

Bottle, Many thanks to Craig for this one Mid golden moving to light amber with the tiniest bit of haze, the porridge oats certainly make their mark on this beer, oats are on the nose, mild in flavour, some bitterness, hops are there but they are quite subtle, I liked this and as I said interesting with the porridge oats.

Bottle (purchased at the brewery shop): Deep golden coloured, lots of floaties visible, small, but persistent white foam, fruits and citrousy hops in the nose; light to medium bodied, soft MF; lingering sweetish-fruity and bitter finish. A fine session beer........

500 ml bottle, bought in Scarborough. Full name is "Isle of Skye Hebridean Gold Porridge Oat Ale". ABV is 4.3%. Deep golden colour, creamy and lasting off-white head. Pleasant fruity hops in the aroma. Smooth mouthfeel. The flavour has moderate malts and acceptable hops, hints of nuts and maybe some toffee. The porridge oat is just there as an airy notion in the background. Dry hoppy finish. Easy drinking, nice enough.

Bottled (BB 07/2008)
Clear amber color, cloudy off-white head, some lace. Yeast and smoked barley/ash in the nose. Medium-bodied, nutty hoppy with tobacco notes. Interesting, different kind of bitter, don’t know if it is those porridge oats or hops ... or both.

Bottled (thanks magic_dave6). Golden colour, big creamy white head. Aroma is fruits, slight honey, grass and some herbs/spices. Flavour is leather, fruits and a bunch of spices. Ok, but not anything that blew my mind.

Bottle, Thanks Pivnizub! Heather, oat and honey nose. Amber, off-white foam layer. Fruity and honeyish light cracker malt base, aromatic and minerally/earthy hop notes. Sparkly on the palate, but slightly too light. Iron and strawberries in the aftertaste.

Bottle. Citric hop aroma. Copper colour, small white head. Flavour is smokey and a little yeasty. Aftertaste is not harsh, but a little sour. Too much carbonation, numbs my buds.

The aroma is sweet fruity with notes of apricot. The color is orange and it has a fine though collapsing head. The flavor is of malts with notes of fruit; apricot and others. In the end it turns dry and slightly bitter.
