Bomber from the brewery. Pours a hazy dark bronze color with a thin frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of bourbon, toffee, mild raisin, mild toast. The taste is toffee malts, whiskey, bitter hops. Medium bodied, well balanced. 7000th overall rating, and 1000th Virginia rating! I intentionally did a cider, mead and beer as my last three to 1000, because I wanted to pay homage to the incredible artisans in the state making those products. We’re not a famous brewing state like some others, but we do have a lot of people making great stuff. Cheers to Virginia!

Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013. It pours deep brown with a small yellow-white head. The nose is wood, earth, toast, brown sugar, vanilla, coconut, orange peel and apricot. The taste is earth, resinous, caramel, toffee, good bitterness, bourbon, leather, varnish and light spice with a dry, bitter finish. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. Big and bold, but a bit unbalanced... Good nonetheless.

At Chriso pre GBBF Shindig 2013. Clear ruby beige head. Some barrel ageing sweey too hot in terms of alcohol. Too much.
