Slightly paler than traditional bitter beers of the time it was the forerunner of the India Pale Ale for which the brewery was to become famous.

Thin beige head on a well carbonated unclear pale golden coloured body. Zesty, earthy & herbal aroma. Medium bodied, lively with a smooth cloying back. Herbal, peach, lime, grassy & confectionery tastes with a bitter peppery finish. Really interesting classic historic Bitter.

Cask from the Cask Bah, Loughborough. Branded as 'TCB'. Golden, clear with very little head. Buttery grainy aroma. Tastes okay, a nice bittersweet hoppiness to it, but then there's more buttered popcorn in the finish. It's in good condition but it's not a great beer.

GBBF Day 3. Cask. The annual Harrisoni/madmitch76 walkabout. Light haze paleish gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry and crispy. Fresh tasting pale malts. Light floralness and a reasonable amount of citrus make for a decent beer. Light dry finish.

16th June 2012: hand pulled pint in the Wetherspoons in Beeston. Light amber body with a good white head that produced some heavy lacing on the glass. Sadly the beer didn’t ‘do it for me’. Hoppy but lacked depth of smell and flavour: another run-of-the–mill light golden citrusy brew the UK is littered with at the moment.

Very standard bitter, but it does have a kick in its aftertaste and some hops in its aroma.
