Brewed in limited batches, our traditional 6% IPA, is full of Pilgrim, Progress and East Kent Goldings hops producing an earthy, medium bodied ale with a smooth bitterness. The English hops are blended with some of Hampshire’s finest malted barley and with hints of citrus, spice and pine, our popular winter regular, has a deep yet warming golden hue.

Bottle from Marwell Zoological Park shop. Clear light chestnut. Frothy foamy white head. Aroma combines sweet fruit, glue and malts. Peripheral sawdust. Light-medium bitter. Woody. Grainy. Tart edge. Fruity. A hint of glue. Quinine. However it's all somewhat thrown together, the elements don't quite marty. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Bitter but lacks depth. Doesn't quite work. Just doesn't do much for me.

Cask at the Nags Head, Reading. Amber with a thin white head; muted citrus aroma; syrupy and aromatic in the mouth, releasing esters as it warms to give a pear-like fruitiness; then a smooth deep bitterness leaving a bitter citrus peel finish. Deeply satisfying.

GBBF. Cask. Clear amber gold beer, decent cream coloured head. Smooth palate, semi soft and semi dry. Mildly caramel malt. Decent hops - bitter tangerine, grapefruit and an interesting streak of pineapple. Minerally dry finish with subdued marmalade hop bitteness and sweetness! Pretty decent IPA!

Cask at GBBF 2011, Day 1. My last beer of the day, thank God, as this is about as drunk as I’ve been in months. Pours clear gold with a moderate, white head. Great nose, notes of citrus, grapefruit (which is citrus, I know, but still...), mild grass, some melon. Sweet flavor, slight caramel and bread, toast, mild citrusy bitterness, some honey. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Some stickiness to the finish, juicy hops, honey and caramel, toast. Good, very good stuff.
