A traditional Scottish Ale brewed for export. In the old days ales were taxed in shillings per barrel depending on the strength – so this malty and flavoursome ale is at the higher end of traditional beer strengths. Some claim to find a hint of smoke in 80/- ales – our slightly peaty water may well bring that out more – discover for yourself.

Flaske delt med importør Ovesen: mørkebrun med beige, kort skum. Aroma og smak av mørke bær, mørk malt og beskjeden humlebruk i ekte scotch ale-stil. Dette er ingen bitter. Lett munnfylde og behagelig lett å helle over drøvelen. colonsay is the smallest island in the world with its own brewery. Ten per cent of the island’s working population (Chris and Bob) are employed here!

500ml bottle from Dobbies Garden Centre - Deep mahogany body, thin white head which soon goes. Nose is rich sweet caramel, with a sweet maltiness that carries through to the taste. Bit thin on the mouthfeel, with a rather short ending.
