Cask at The Turks, Reading. Light amber with a middling white head. Watery. Sweet caramel with some metallic mineral notes. Might be a hint of lemon in the background. Poor bitter.

2nd April 2015: hand-pulled half-pint in The Crown Inn, Oakengates. Clear amber pour with a white head. Bland and boring with just about enough hops to make you think it might have been hoppy before they watered it down to 3.4% ABV. Refreshing but not something I would recommend or offer to friends.

Cask @ Crown & Kettle, Manchester. Clear copper with a small glow. Has a nice easy drinking texture, but a touch thin tasting with its low abv. However it maintains a healthy nose and taste with hops in the former, and both hops and malt in the latter aspect. There’s a sweetness evident in its nose and to a lesser extent in its taste.

Cask at the Three Guineas, Reading. Pretty decent, given the APV. An amber bitter, with a citrus aroma, and a lengthy bitter finish. Not one to linger over, but refreshing and well made.

Cask at the Cricketers Arms, Bedford. Amber with a full white head. Faint but fresh aroma of pale malt and light citrus. A pronounced maltiness in the sweet taste. Just a hint of sweet-sour in the finish. Not a medal winner on any day of the week but much better than I expected... and it beats Brains Bitter any day.

Cask at GBBF 2011. Golden colour with a small white head. Mild hoppy and light fruity nose. Light hoppy and malty flavour, very flat due to low co2

Third-pint, cask, handpulled at B1 Seacole Brewery Bar, GBBF 2011. Dotted spots on the glass from a creamy, white head. Amber-gold body. Modest smell of grassy hops. Mild and watered malt-fruity taste. Faint bitter end. Too easy to drink, perhaps (London, 02.08.2011).
