Hubert? I’ve heard of him. A friend of a friend knows him. Apparently he’s awesome, but we’ve never met. Well. It’s about time you did. Most you connoisseurs would just call him an IPA, but we call him an MPA. The Melvin Pale Ale. A welcomed hand shake to your taste buds. Light, crisp, fresh and a little bitty bitter. Lets just say he won’t be that jerk that leaves you at the bar at 2am. He’s low in alcohol. What a nice guy… that Hubert.

Good looking 12 oz can. Aroma is cat piss, grapefruit, lemon. Pours hazy golden with a thick bone-white head with great retention and lace. Taste is juicy citrus and dank, lightly bitter with some sweetness counterpoint. Mouthfeel is perfectly creamy, but the body could be a tad fuller. Awesome beer any way you look at it. So glad Melvin is available in North Idaho now.

Sample from a can. Pours copper, with a small, bubbly, beige head. The nose is caramel, honeysuckle, apricot, and white bread. A little sweet, mildly bitter, and generally mild and balanced. Light body, crisp, and clean. This is a refreshing and easy pale ale. Not overly hopped, but not overly sweet, just smooth and clean.

12 ounce can from John’s marketplace. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A big citrus tropical nose. Crisp, big funky citrus resin hops, some bitterness. This is a really big pale ale. Lovely big hoppy beer.

Can, Legacy. Hazy pale amber colour with a bubbly head. The aroma is assertive - passionfruit, bright mandarin orange. Fairly bitter, grapefruity, citrus bitterness. A touch of sweet pale malts. Light lychee notes as well. Nicely balanced. Very good.

12 oz can. Pours a lightly hazed amber with moderate quickly dissipating head. Aromas of dried tropical fruit, spicy resin, a bit of sharp grass and sweet malts. Flavors follow same, sharp and crisp with dry piney/citrus finish. Great stuff

Can at home I suppose this got distributed to NYC that’s cool. Orange pour minimal head. Nose is thick fruit juice purée. Tastes of oranges, pineapple, honey blossoms, some malt, grass, and caramel. Thick chewy mouthfeel. Hint of hooch.

Draught at Beveridge Place Pub
Blond color, clean. Bold Pale Ale, lean, blond malts, but also with some butter in the aroma and flavor.
Nice, but a bit flawed.
