In the build-up to our first festival, Friends & Family & Beer, we've organised a series of collaborations with attending breweries. We joined forces with Magic Rock to bring back a much-loved beer from 2016. Three's Company was our first beer to use JW Lees' yeast and this smooth, juicy IPA is packed with flavours of gooseberry, grape, melon and peach.

Aroma & Flavour: Top notes of gooseberry and grape, backed up by melon, mango and peach
Body: Thick, smooth and juicy
Aftertaste: Resinous hop accents, lingering sweet melon and peach

Hazy gold beer, tidy cream colour head. Palate is light and mildly crisp. Minerals. Very light malts, thin creamy sweetness. Light orange and mango, pine and mild hop spice. Trace of hop skunk. Mango gets stronger and the orange gets fresher. Light crisp finish. Lighter and more vibrant than DIPA v4 and v5 and very drinkable.

Keg @ Port Street Beer House, Manchester. Hazy mid-yellow with a thin head. Citrus heavy and quite a few hops, always remaining crisp and fruity. It’s dangerous stuff as it hides its strength.

330ml bottle from Beermerchants. Bottled June 2016. Pours cloudy orange with a thick white head. Aroma is a massive fruit explosion with loads of juicy notes, loads of tropical notes, grassy hops, pineapple, citrus, zesty grapefruit, orange peel, mango, some caramel and toffee. Taste is juicy, hoppy and citrusy with loads of tropical fruits, pine, mango and grapefruit. Finish is juicy fruity, tropical and hoppy with some biscuity maltiness, grapefruit, mango and grassy notes. Pretty awesome NE style juicy and fruity DIPA.

Bottle at home, 14/07/16. Lightly hazed golden orange with a well appointed off white head. Nose is juicy citrics, passionfruit, light skunky hop, tangerine, citric kissed straw, lemon drizzle, grapefruit. Taste comprises pine resin, sticky grapefruit, orange pith, tropical fruit redux, mango, sweet and sticky ttopicana, pineapple, mandarin. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close Super solid DIPA, nice danko edge, put Cloudwater DIPA v4 well into the shade for me on a 3 way tasting and on a +0.2 on DIPA v5.

Bottle from Honest Brew. It pours cloudy gold with a thick, foamy white head. The aroma is soft, juicy tropical fruits, pineapple, mango, nectarine and doughy bread. The taste is smooth, mellow bitterness, very juicy, pineapple, mango, orange, grapefruit, fruit punch, bread, light spice and light alcohol with a soft, dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and velvety mouth - feel. Delicious and exceptionally well balanced. Brilliant!

330ml bottle from Discount Supermarket, Cardiff. Pours hazy gold, nice fluffy white head. Aroma brings exotic fruits, papaya, lychee etc... Taste is wonderfully fruity, yet light for the ABV. Pineapple, lychee and mango dominate. Tangerine sliding in on subsequent sips. A remarkably fruity beer. Outstanding even.

Bottle. Nose is lychee, pineapple, tropical, light bread, very magic rock. Taste is tropical, melon, bread, malty, dry herbal finish, with a hint of a caramel and resin. Mouthfeel is rich. I’ve been a bit sniffy about Cloudwater’s first year, but they are starting to hit their stride this is very nice, though this does lack a little depth and does get a bit doughy as you get through the glass.

Loads of bitterness. Orange peel. A bit harsh. Yeast is really complex. Fruity. But I don't think it works with the yeast. Bubblegum.
