(Bottle, 0.75 l - assemblage no 2, from Alko Arkadia, 20120310) The beer poured brown and clear. No head was formed. Aroma had sourness, vineousness, molasses and caramell. Palate was medium bodief with low carbonation. Flavours were sourness, wood, malts, berries, molasses, vineousness and low bitterness. Aftertaste was woody, malty, sour and bitter. A complex and nice brew.

Bottle number #00276 shared with Lorna at Beer Rev Oakland, alongside the 2004 draft version. It pours hazy red, with a thin white head. The nose is of juicy tart fruit: cherry, strawberry and red grape - sweeter than the 04. The taste is strawberry, sweet raspberry, red grape, vinous aspect, tart Granny Smith apple and lime, with a juicy tart finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Much softer, a touch sweeter and more red grape than the 2004 version, but still delicious.

Draught, Avenue Pub. Light amber and flat-looking. Fruity, barrelly aroma with balsamic notes. Tart and a bit slick on the tongue. Deep fruitiness characteristic of the brewery. Interesting but it is not really knocking me out, unlike previous editions of this brew that I found to be amazing.

Pours deep mahogany gold into a snifter. Tan head merely bubbles on the rim. Tart, dark cherry and oak aromas. Dry with dark tart cherry and oak front to back.

Tap at Churchkey. Poured a cloudy dark reddish/amber color with a small wispy white head. Aroma was light fruits (apples), sour funk, notes of sweet malts. Flavor masked the alcohol so well, I was shocked. Sour, yeast notes. Dangerously drinkable.

Bottle at Ebenezer Kezar’s, shared with Niell and Greg. Murky amber color, scant white head. Aroma of sour plums, dates, cherries. Taste is deeply sour, more than it’s age would suggest, and aggressive port wine and stone fruits. Should age well.

Bottle number 00276. Pours with a hazed amber body with a minimal, small, foamy off-white head. Aromas are lactic, funk, cherry, dark fruit, red wine, grapefruit acidity, vinous, oak, light caramel, biscuit, estery, with some alcohol peaking through. Flavors are malty, vinegar, acidic, lactic, lots of red wine and vinous notes, light acetic. Fresh figs. Raisiny, dark fruits, brett and funk. Medium bodied, light bubbles, warming and somewhat dry. Tasty.

Bottle from Au Grain d’Orge, Crissier; Assemblage No 1
Dark amber color, hazy; small head.
Aroma of caramel, wood, some sourness, fruits, light vanilla (this mellow trait is unusual in BFM beers), light hazelnutes and a shade of acetone; wine too.
The body is lean and the mouthfeel medium-dry; the flavor is mostly wine, juicy and fresh wines, but with some additional sourness and astringency; light cherry presence; the usual, strong woody character permeates the final; also, there seems to be a light residual sweetness.
Of all BFM beers, probably the one that gets most similar to a wine.
Dynamic, fresh, harmonious. Excellent, again.

On tap at Alvinne CBF March 2011. Nice golden color, almost no head. The smell kind of suggests it, but the taste confirms: unbelievably sour! Very nice full body and full carbonation, but way too sour for me unfortunately.

On tap at ACBF. Hazy gold beer. No head. Vinegary fruity sourness - a touch overwhelming for my palate. All the wine barrel subtleties are lost in the sourness for me. Alright flavour but the sample was plenty! A whole bottle would give me indegestion!
