Bottle from Kernel as LBA Porter. Very black colour with a thick tan head. Chocolate coffee and fruit on aroma. Smooth and rather lovely in the mouth. The liquorice edge is rounded off thankfully. Lovely intense aroma. Clearly a lot of everything went into this. Rather big thick and lovely in the mouth. Good choc on the swallow and on into the finish. So is it any good? Yes. Shame it was a one off.

Cask, Gravity at The Bree Louise, London Sat’ 13th November 2010 There was a touch of perfume whiff on the nose which surprised me somewhat. Pours dark, dark brown with beige head. Some nuttiness a little cocoa and a dab of citrus, bit creamy with lasting bitterness. Its ok. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov13 3.1

Cask at London Brewers’ Alliance showcase event in Brew Wharf. Dark brown with thin beige foam. Very well balanced. Plenty of roast malts and caramel; not too acidic. Saline mouthfeel, and an invitingly bitter finish, leaving you wanting another pint. Lovely.

Cask at London Brewers Showcase. Pours opaque brown with a thin, off-white head. Holds a sharp, dark malt aroma with light roast and hard chocolate. Fairly sweet though restrained flavor profile with more lightly roasted malts. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Mild malt finish with some lingering dry roastiness and mineral bitters. Pretty good.

8th October 2010 at BrewWharf.
Clear dark red brown beer. Small light tan head. Semi soft and fairly dry palate. Slighly creamy dark malt with some subtle and well integrated roastiness. A nice red fruit undertone that blooms in sweetness before the semi dry finish. Bitterish aftertaste. Well joined up Porter.
