Black Forest is a very rich, thick, and flavoursome porter, in the style of those brewed in old London. The aroma brings roasted coffee and oak. Dark chocolate, espresso and charred malts follow and the long finale is dark, fruity, and bittersweet.

Cask at the CP&K, 15/01/18. Black with a decent light tan covering that thins to edging and a swirl over time. Nose is liquorice, dusty fruits, light roast malts, fuggy jam, plummy depths. Taste comprises light chocolate, pinch of spice, mellow roast, fruit slice, dried red berries, light charr, faint smoke. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light roast and dryness in the close. Decent enough porter.

Handpull cask from Broood @ Vin Quatre, Leicester. Dark brown bordering on black with a tan head. Coffee and chocolate in the aroma, with light notes of molasses, Bovril and forest floor. Taste: man, this is ridiculously sweet but I dig it. It comes together so nicely in the finish with just a wisp of hop bitterness for balance. Cinnamon sticks in the aftertaste. Special.
