A deep malt and hoppy aroma with liquorice throughout. Roast malt, fruit and hops also carry through this full bodied stout.

Cask at Wellington, Birmingham. Pours black, small beige head, nice retention. Aroma is sweet, malty, some raisin fruitiness. Taste is the same with a chocolate malt character, tangy dried fruit and dry bitter finish. Medium bodied, slightly chewy. Quite nice although a little underwhelming for a 6% ABV beer.

Cask at the land of peace of plenty. A dark brown black coloured pour with a loose light tan head. Aroma is earthy meaty roast, charcoal, liquorice, charred wood. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, big bitter roast charred wood, harsh bitter roast, liquorice. Palate is semi sweet, mellow cask condition. Lingering roast and rusty penny. Robust but a bit too much.

Cask at Old No 7, Barnsley. Pours lightly hazed dark brown towards black with a beige cap. Aroma: dark malts, dark fruit, coffee hints, chocolate, liquorice. Taste: Moderate sweet & bitter, dry, roast malts & cocoa. Medium body with soft carbonation. A tasty drop that works well on cask

Cask at Hops, Crewe Drunk this many times before, but not reviewed it. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small beige head. Nose is predominantly coffee with traces of liquorice. Flavour has roast malts, chewy liquorice, dark chocolate and alcoholic strength, together with hints of ginger. Despite all this flavour, it does seem to be a bit watery. Finish is dry and boozy. A very good strong stout.

More like a mild english dark beer. Clean and well made, real cask ale flat, but good. GBBF birmingham
