Flashback Anniversary Ale is an India Brown Ale with 6.8% ABV. This is the first beer we’ve made here that uses one single hop variety (Cascade) in the recipe in five separate additions. The fresh Cascade hop aroma and flavor is perfectly balanced with the dark roasted grains, making Flashback a very unique beer. We’re calling it an India Brown Ale to help illustrate its flavor to the consumer. It’s hoppy like an IPA but dark and roasty like a Brown Ale. Put them together and voila! Flashback at its finest!…

This IBA poured a darke orange colour with a fast life foamy, light tan head. To the nose there are scents of ripe fruit, brown sugar, caramel and molassass. First swig was smooth and hoppy with flavours of roasty malt, citrus/spruce hopps, raisin and ??? Finish is bitter and the hopp, plus citrus linger forever.

A reddish amber ale with a thin off white head. A pleasant aroma of nutty malt and pungeant hops with light vinous notes, musky and aged. In mouth, a smooth brown ale with nice British oily hops, resinous, grassy malt, veering on old ale. Quite nice. On tap at Tap and Mallet, July 30, 2010.

Cask@GBBF 2010. Dark brown beer with a light head. The aroma is hopped and roasted, and the flavour is very well hopped with a long roasted bitter finish. Overall a reasonable hopped and roasted beer.

Cask gravity at GBBF (I think, Craig chose it and Loz went & got it) Trade Day 03-08-10 Pours chestnut in colour with very good clarity. The hoppiness is a bit harsh and raw, there is some toffee and citrus going on in both mouth & on the nose. But its all a bit hard edged for me. A5 A4 T6 P3 Ov11 2.9

Bottle from Total Wine in Roseville, CA. Pours brilliant ruddy copper with a decent foamy beige head. Aroma is typically "brown" coarse roast malt with lots of citrus/grassy hops. Medium plus body with heavy duty, but not sharp, carbonation. Flavor seems to start with chocolate (?), but quickly moves to more standard roast malt with quite a bit of citrus and herby/grassy hop. It’s a beautiful beer, and it’s a tasty beer. An IPA with character. Get it, if you see it.
