Cask at the White Lady. Pours clear dark red-brown. Aromas of herbal hops and dark sugar. Taste is very similar, light bitter, mostly sweet. Missing any kind of chocolate or roast malt note that would account for the colour... Pure caramel? Just about ok.

Cask at the William Robert Looseley, High Wycombe. Deep ruby with a thin off-white head. A little smoke, a little plum, a bit of liquorice, some caramel. Rather a creamy, cloying mouthfeel. Ok but ultimately rather forgettable.

50cl bottle from The Naked Grape, Alresford. Chocolate brown with a thin cream head; rich, sweet, chocolate malt aroma; rather thin in the mouth with a toasty malt flavour and a touch of dark chocolate; and a dry, earthy, chocolatey finish. A pleasant porter.
