An ale brewed to celebrate the first decade of the 21st century and to be consumed before the end of the second decade. Traquair 2020 is fermented in oak casks for 8-10 days, then conditioned for a few weeks post-oak prior to bottling.

Bottle from Healthy Spirits, SF. It pours deep ruby brown, with a thin foamy off-white head. The nose is wood, nut, leather, caramel, marzipan, marshmallow, spice, plum and red grape. The taste is caramel, toffee, leather, nougat, marzipan, fig, raisin, plum, vinous notes, brown sugar and some alcohol warmth, with a dry finish. Full body and fine carbonation. Not cloying. Well balanced. I imagine this will only get better with time.

12 oz. bottle, split with Matts_Property, pours a dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma of rich dark fruits, including plum, dates, figs, and cherries, butterscotch, molasses, buttery malts, and brown sugar. Flavour of butterscotch, plum, cherries, molasses, brown sugar and booze. Finishes with booze and caramelized / burnt sugar. Great body and complexity. Delicious.

11.2oz bottle from Pinch poured into a snifter. Pours a slightly cloudy, dark brown with a thin ring of off-white head. Aroma of caramel, sugar, dark fruit and a little smoke. Taste is light sweet and light bitter. A lot more sugar and caramel than fruit in the taste. Full bodied with a thick texture. Soft carbonation and a long finish. Overall, very good. I would love to try this one when 2020 rolls around.

A deep dark brown ale with a thin lacing light mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with dark fruits, alcohol warmth, light sulfur, pleasant. In mouth, sweet caramel malt with dark fruits, light vinous character, a bit too attenuated, still OK for a 10 years old beer.

11.2oz bottle. Clear dark coppery brown color with a minimal head. Aroma is strong yeastie weirdness, very much Tranquir, very much I like. Strong on herbalness and heavy on malt. Still screams at me as a Scottish barleywine. Flavor is similarly herbal, strong maltiness (deep earthy and leafy) and an ever present alcohol. Easy drinking for a hard beer. I like it, way too pricey to every buy again though.

Dark brown color, almost black; thin head. Light aroma of caramel, sugar, soap, alcohol, light phenol. Strong caramel flavor, rather sweet but boring, with a really too strong flavor of sweet liquorice. Sweet booze, cloying.

11.2 fl oz bottle shared by beastiefan2k. Pour is a hazed brown orange copper, with a smallish light tan head. Aroma is coriander, grassy, and a rye maltiness. Taste is sweet malt, the rye notes, followed by bread and floral herbal. Peat earthiness crops up in the finish. Really interesting and integrated beer. Palate is heavy to medium bodied, lower carbonation - certainly a sipper. Lingers with peat, sweet malt and minor alcohol notes. Nice one, thanks for sharing Eugene.

Bottle. Mahogony beer with a dark cream colored head. Malt and herbal aroma with light fruit. Malt and toffee flavor with light herbalness and light earth. Medium-plus bodied. Toffee and light fruit lingers with light herbal notes and light woodsiness.

Deep garnet, thin layer of persistent head. Rich vinous fruity aroma, plummy, rummy, raisiny, reminiscent of the house ale. Nose is complemented by a leafy tobacco like hoppiness. Fruity and sweet flavors, a touch vinous. Alcohol and some astringent or cloying heavy malt sweetness comes up toward the finish, not as refined a palate as Iād hoped. Finish is long, with madeira or sherry like notes of oxidized wine, and it almost makes me want to say I can taste some kind of oakiness in this, but perhaps not.
